Genesis 37; - 50;  -  The Life of Joseph - A type of Christ.

Joseph was a spoilt but godly young man, devoted to his God, loved and favored by his father Jacob, for his older brothers were evil men. Joseph was to go through many hard humbling trials in the first half of his life. then to be glorified in the second half "Like Christ".  But what others meant for evil God was to turn them around for his good and Gods glory. Those trials, God used to fine tune him, to sanctify Joseph, and to prepare him for his future work of saving Gods people from famine and death. So, preserving the line through which Messiah the Christ would come to save his people from their sins. Joseph in many ways was a type of Christ suffering to save his people and forgiving them their sins against him. We can learn much in the way of both doctrine and duty from Josephs life, and as we see Gods dealings with his people bring about His divine plans. God's sovereignty and providence are clearly seen in the true history of Joseph. Yes Romans 8;28 is true "God does work all thing together for those that love God and are called according to His purpose."
