2 Timothy - A Pastor and His People

Paul's letter to Timothy is full of feeling and insight into Paul's thought life, as he seeks to encourage and instruct a young pastor in his ministerial work. Paul tells us how to live for Christ, giving examples of spiritual soldier, athlete and husbandman. Telling him of the importance of endurance, and to bear fruit. We to be skilled workmen for Christ, rightly expounding Gods truth faithfully, so we need not be ashamed. The need for personal purity, to avoid foolish questions and strife. We see Paul need of companionship, his friends have departed, and Paul is finding prison life is hard, and he is lonely, so he urges Timothy to come join him and bring John Mark for he is profitable to me.
