1 John - 2 & 3 John - Knowing the Truth
The Apostle John wrote these letters to believers to add to their Joy, to warn them against sin, and of the many false teachers, who give false hope and destroy the assurance of some Christians. John wants to strengthen them in their faith in Christ, so that they know the truth, and he wants to build up their hope of eternal life. John then gives them three distinguishing marks of a true believer, 1. Moral mark, obeys God and hates sin. 2. Social mark, love of fellow believers. 3. Doctrine mark, right beliefs. John also talks about the power and responsibility of prayer, about backsliding and apostates.
In 2 & 3 John the Apostle John deals with the important attributes of fellowship, and some important character of a Christian, truth, love, goodness. John also shows that you can recognise the false teachers, by their love and their lives. 1. They do not love the truth of God, but love themselves. Also 2. They do not obey God, but follow their own ways.
